Bringing Hope Behind the Walls

The Sate of Texas - Bear Creek Prison Ministry

The Bear Creek Prison Ministry stands strong today because of the unwavering dedication and hard work of our beloved, the late Minister Shanna Starks. She faithfully picked up the mantle from Missionary Joy and the late Pastor Cantu, who led our first teams into this mission field. Minister Shanna’s vision and commitment opened new doors and paved the way for a thriving ministry that we are honored to continue building upon today.

We now joyfully welcome Elder Patrick Smith as our new Prison Ministry Director. Personally selected by Minister Shanna before her passing, Elder Smith has stepped into this role with grace and compassion. His heart for ministry and deep concern for those incarcerated has already made a lasting impact, not only within Bear Creek Community Church but throughout the surrounding community.

What We Do!

Each time we enter the prison, we bring more than just the Gospel, we bring love, encouragement, and a message of hope. Our outreach includes:

  • Serving nachos, Kool-Aid, and cookies to inmates

  • Sharing live music (volunteers are encouraged to bring instruments or accompaniment CDs)

  • Drama, dance, comedy, or skits that are appropriate within prison guidelines

  • Personal testimonies of healing, redemption, and transformation

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, some are former offenders, some have loved ones currently incarcerated, and others have overcome abuse and trauma themselves. Ages range from 18 to senior adults. We are unified not by denomination, but by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This ministry does not promote religion, it proclaims salvation.

Get Involved

  • First-time volunteers may attend as a “special guest”

  • For continued participation, an application must be submitted to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and a half-day training is required

  • Volunteers are responsible only for travel expenses and lodging for two nights (2–4 people per room to reduce cost)

  • Transportation is often available via the church van or carpools coordinated within your area or church group

Ministering to those who are incarcerated requires deep compassion and a heart led by the love of God. It takes grace to see beyond the bars and into the souls of those who are often forgotten. Through kindness, encouragement, and spiritual care, we reflect God’s unconditional love, reminding each person that redemption, hope, and transformation are possible through Christ.

BCCC Prison Ministry

Bringing Light, Hope, and Salvation Behind Prison Walls

The BCCC Prison Ministry is a powerful outreach that offers an extraordinary opportunity to witness lives transformed by the love of Yahweh. Through this ministry, countless souls are introduced to the Gospel, and many others find renewed strength, healing, and restoration in their walk with God.

Each month, a dedicated team of 20 or more volunteers enters select Texas prison facilities to conduct full-day evangelistic services. Ministry teams serve on both Saturday and Sunday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, pouring out the love of Christ through:

  • Spirit-filled worship and music

  • Personal testimonies of hope and redemption

  • Anointed preaching of the Word

  • Gospel-centered dance and spoken word

  • Clean, uplifting comedy

  • Opportunities for one-on-one prayer and two-by-two evangelism

All ministry is conducted in a safe and secure environment under the supervision of prison officials. Participants must remain inside the facility for the duration of the day, and all ministry activities are guided by the rules and protocols set by the prison system. Correctional officers are present at all times, ensuring the safety of both volunteers and inmates.

A Call to Serve

If you have a heart for the lost, the broken, and the forgotten, we invite you to prayerfully consider joining us. The BCCC Prison Ministry is more than a visit, it is a mission to bring light into darkness and to declare freedom and new beginnings through Jesus Christ.

If you would like to be a part of this life-changing ministry, we’d love to hear from you!

Pennies For Prison

Pennies for Prison: Every Cent Makes a Difference

“Pennies for Prison” is a simple yet impactful way to support our Prison Ministry outreach. Your loose change, yes, even your pennies can go a long way in helping us bring comfort and care to incarcerated individuals.

Through your contributions, we’re able to provide basic refreshments such as cookies, chips, jalapeños, cheese, Kool-Aid, cups, and napkins during our prison visits. These small gestures create meaningful moments of fellowship, encouragement, and dignity.

PENNY reminds us that small things, when offered with faith and love, can have eternal impact.

PPrayerfully Given – Every penny we offer should be given with a heart of prayer and intention.
EEmpowered by Love – It’s not about the value, but the love that empowers it.
NNever Too Small – No gift is too small when placed in God’s hands.
NNurtures Hope – Even the smallest offering can plant seeds of encouragement and healing.
YYielded to God’s Purpose – When we give selflessly, we yield our resources to serve a higher calling.

No donation is too small, every penny truly counts. Together, we can continue to share God’s love in tangible ways, one coin at a time.

Kids for Christ

Kids for Christ

Bear Creek Community Church – Youth Ministry
Under the Leadership of Sister Penny Adai

At Bear Creek Community Church, our Kids for Christ ministry is more than just a program, it is a vital foundation for raising up a generation of spiritually grounded, confident, and compassionate young believers.

Led by the dedicated and nurturing leadership of Sister Penny Adai, this ministry is committed to helping our children learn the Word of God, grow spiritually, and apply biblical truths in ways that impact every area of their lives, at home, in school, and throughout the community.

Through engaging lessons, interactive discussions, and age-appropriate activities, our children are taught the principles of faith, love, obedience, kindness, and responsibility. We equip them with biblical concepts and real-life tools that help them build strong character, make wise decisions, and shine their light wherever they go.

The youth ministry at Bear Creek is a critical pillar in the church, it strengthens our families, reinforces our values, and prepares the next generation to lead with conviction, courage, and Christ-centered integrity.

We believe that when we invest in our children, we’re investing in the future of the church and the Kingdom of God.

Would you like your child to be a part of Kids for Christ?
We’d love to have them grow with us in faith, character, and community!
